Join Garage Arts Project for Spring Soirée, an evening featuring captivating dance performances, offering a blend of emotional reflection and cultural richness.

Opening Act: “A Quiet Ending” is a meditation on the passing of the choreographer’s paternal grandmother. The piece is marked by a slow, dirge-like tempo and somber mood, reflecting the life of a woman of faith, family, and perseverance and encapsulating the quiet end of a life well-lived.
Choreographer: Adam Castaneda, performed by dancers from Pilot Dance Project.

The main performance, “Moving Images”, is a mesmerizing collection of dance works presented in the Shilpanatanam style, a unique movement form pioneered by Maya Kulkarni. The 45-minute performance will feature four distinct pieces, each drawing from classical Indian poetry, folk traditions, and temple arts, exploring themes of love, loss, and spirituality. Each piece in “Moving Images” is a powerful representation of storytelling through movement, rooted in deep cultural traditions. The performance will make its Houston debut at MATCH.
Ideation, choreography and narration: Maya Kulkarni
Dancers: Kaustavi Sarkar and Bharathi Penneswaran.

The evening concludes with an engaging Q&A session with the artists.
Come and experience the power of dance as a storytelling medium, blending ancient traditions with contemporary expression, in a truly unforgettable evening.
